baby yogaBaby Yoga is a recent branch of yoga specially formulated for babies who are a few weeks old to two years of age.Purpose of Baby Yoga is to provide physical and mental stimulation to enhance well-being and development of a baby’s body. This joint practice between a parent and baby deepen the emotional bond between them in an enjoyable and relaxing atmosphere.

The classes are usually very informal and lively which involves gentle yoga exercises, massages, songs and games thus inducing a happy, carefree and lively parent-infant interaction which develops as the babies grow.Nice thing about Baby Yoga class is babies and toddlers are accepted as they are with their cries and tantrums. Some babies may enjoy this new sound and stimulation while others may cry a lot at first but eventually get used to it.New mums, on the other hand, have all the freedom to pick up baby, nurse her, change diapers, comfort her or walk her around the class during the practice.

In a typical Baby Yoga class, babies will be held on their parent’s tummy, back or arm while the parent massage and involve the baby in gentle exercise or movements. As babies love physical contact, this help to relax and stimulate their nervous system and also gently stretches their body to keep it supple.
